This Privacy Policy explains how FluentClips ("FluentClips," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
We rely on third-party service providers to run the Service β for example, application and database hosting, authentication and file storage, AI transcription and translation, retrieval of content you link to, and payment processing. These providers process information only to provide services to us. We do not store full payment-card numbers.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only: with the service providers above; with our advertising-measurement providers as described in Section 5 (which some U.S. state privacy laws may treat as "sharing" β Section 5 explains exactly what is disclosed and how to opt out); if you choose to share a clip or list with another user; to comply with law or valid legal process; to protect the rights, safety, and property of FluentClips or others; or in connection with a business transfer (e.g. merger or acquisition), subject to this Policy.
We use cookies and browser local storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as sort and display settings).
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the Service β which pages are visited, where people get stuck, and how features are used β through session replays, heatmaps, and interaction data collected via cookies and similar technologies. Clarity masks typed text by default, and we never give it (or any analytics provider) access to the content you create β your clips, transcripts, or word lists. Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We also record, for our own use only, how a new account first reached the site (for example a campaign link or the referring website).
To measure our advertising, we use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Meta's Conversions API. These share limited information with Meta β the pages you visit on the Service, the fact that an account was created or a subscription purchased, identifiers from Meta's own cookies, and a hashed (unreadable) version of your email address β so we can see which ads work and reach people similar to our learners. Under some U.S. state privacy laws (including the California CCPA/CPRA), disclosures to an advertising provider like this can be considered "sharing" of personal information. We enable Meta's Limited Data Use mode, which restricts how Meta may process data about California residents. You can opt out of this measurement at any time: use your browser's tracking controls or extensions, adjust your Meta ad preferences, or ask us via the Contact page and we will honor opt-out requests. We never give Meta (or any advertising or analytics provider) the content you create β your clips, transcripts, or word lists. We do not sell your personal information for money.
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete clips and other content at any time, and you can delete your account yourself from the Account page (or by contacting us). We may retain limited information as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When you delete your account, we immediately and permanently remove your account data, texts, and private clips, and cancel any subscription. During deletion you choose whether your public clips are also deleted or donated to the shared FluentClips library. We retain only your email address and the deletion date β to honor your deletion, prevent abuse, and make sure we never contact you again β and we will not email you afterwards unless you explicitly opted in during deletion. Payment records already processed are retained by our payment processor (Stripe) as required by financial-records law.
You may access and update your account information, delete content, and request a copy or deletion of your personal information by using the Service or contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example, under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the California CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your information, and to appeal a decision. We will honor these rights as required by applicable law.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Service lets you work with content from third-party sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices and terms, and we are not responsible for them.
We operate in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
