Russian language is one of the Indo-European languages.

It belongs to the group of East Slavic languages and is very close to the Ukrainian and Belarusian languages.
Большинство населения Российской Федерации говорит на русском языке.
The majority of the population of the Russian Federation speaks Russian.
Русские изучаются в школах и являются государственным языком страны.
Russian is studied in schools and is the state language of the country.
Все государственные документы написаны на русском.
All government documents are written in Russian.
